SERVICES

UMI’s goal is to become the foremost provider of medical waste services in Florida. Our basic business philosophy is to perform a comprehensive service, which includes all aspects of medical waste management and removal from preparing your new medical waste container, labeling the full container, and ultimately, ensuring proper destruction.

UMI will provide Medical Waste shipping containers, manifests, transport vehicles, and the necessary equipment to accept waste at your facilities’ designated location. UMI will transport your Regulated Medical Waste to an approved treatment facility for proper destruction. Regulated Medical Waste must be contained in compliance with the State of Florida Department of Health (64E-16). Our manifest includes a certification that; “No radioactive, explosive, toxic or hazardous waste, as defined by the State of Florida, are included in the contents.

UMI will provide a sufficient supply of containers, which meet all regulatory requirements including D.O.T. regulations effective 1998. Red liners and tape will also be provided to meet your packaging needs. All of our products are in compliance with all federal, state and local regulations.

UMI’s transportation staff is available twenty- four hours per day, seven days a week. All equipment used to service your facilities will be owned or long-term leased by UMI.

Only UMI employees trained in accordance with federal and state regulations will be involved in servicing your facilities. Our staff is also trained in immediate spill response cleanup.

The UMI service tech will inspect the containers and packaged waste to insure that the packaged waste is acceptable for transport. Our service tech will then present the designated facility staff member with a manifest for signature, indicating the waste is ready for pick-up. Upon receipt of the signed manifest, we will accept custody and responsibility for the waste. Prior to departure, the facility staff member will be asked to accept custody of the supplies of replacement containers.

Once at the treatment facility, the transport vehicle, shipping containers, and waste are weighed on certified scales. The containers are off-loaded and the waste is placed into the autoclave unit. Once sterilized, the waste is transported to an approved landfill.

In-service training and internal waste handling practices will be provided on an on-going basis.
